Wow, can you believe that it’s been 4 months since I last posted? Time sure does fly when you’re raising kids, helping your hubby finish school and running a business having fun! My husband has finally finished his 75 clinic hours to get his massage license, so things are calming down here a little bit. I have been keeping up crafting, so I thought I’d show you what I’ve been up to. I’ve been working on finally finishing Miss Ellie’s room. I still need to get some things done, like make curtains to put over her closet. I had the changing table in there and since it got broken, I took it out and replaced it with her dresser, so in order to easily get into the closet, the doors had to go. I found a cheap inexpensive white curtain rod at Ikea and put it up in preparation of the curtains getting done. I actually have 2 yards of brown and pink polka dot fabric that I got at Hobby Lobby a while ago, but it’s a little short and I’m undecided on my choice of coordinating fabric to lengthen it. I also found a little side table at goodwill for $8.00 that I painted to be completely white and store some of Ellie’s toys. The most difficult part of completing her room has got to be the fan redo. I have hated it since we moved in. The gold color was just awful and dated looking.
(After the fan blades and light covers were removed)
As I was blog hopping, I stumbled upon this post and thought hey I can do that! Unfortunately I don’t have a craft store near me and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so it’s been on hold until recently. While I was on a shopping trip to Wal-mart I wandered into the spray paint isle only to find out that it works on metal (duh right, I should read the labels more often) . I took down that fan, with some help from the hubby and slowly painted all of the metal white. I was going to paint the fan blades too, but when I removed them I found that they can be flipped over and have a dark brown finish. I was so excited to have save some time and I love the contrast that it gives.
Here are some pictures of what’s been going on around our house that aren’t crafting related...
